Meisner held its Company Picnic on Saturday, February 2nd at Quiet Waters Park in Deerfield Beach from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Plenty of fun and games were on hand, not to mention some great food. The Company utilized a sports theme for the picnic since it was held on Superbowl Weekend.
Activities at this years picnic included a kickball tournament, separate tug-of-war contests for kids and adults, horseshoes, cornhole, volleyball, domino tables, and Jenga tables. In keeping with the sports theme, an inflatable obstacle course was available for both kids and adults as well as inflatable mini-golf and ball tosses. There was also face-painting and other fun games for children including a hula-hoop contest. Medals were awarded to the kickball champions at the end of the tournament, some of which are now proudly on display in the office.
The picnic was catered by Hugh’s Catering from Fort Lauderdale. There were hamburgers and hot dogs with all the fixings available throughout the day. In addition, lunch was served around noon with pulled pork, barbecue chicken, corn, potato salad, coleslaw, macaroni & cheese, and baked beans on the menu. In addition to desserts and cold beverages, there were snow cones, popcorn and cotton candy available all day.
Over 300 persons attended the event despite the threat of bad weather. Meisner CEO, Doug Hutchison, said, “Our original headcount was expected to be somewhere around 550 people. I believe the weather played a part in some of our employees and their families not attending. The weather forecast called for heavy rain today, and I believe many didn’t want to risk the drive; especially, if they expected to be rained out. It’s really too bad since it turned out to be such a nice day after all! We really were prepared for the weather. The pavilion reserved by the Picnic Committee had enough covered space for 500 persons had there been any rain. Thanks to all those who attended, and by the way, a special shout-out goes to all our employees and families from our west-coast office and the Tampa, Sarasota, and Fort Myers projects that made the trip.”
A special thanks to all our volunteers who setup, staffed the welcome table, organized the games, and cleaned up afterward. Special kudos go to Natalie Braz, Kathy Kellems, Jason Underwood and Suzy Poveda who served on the Picnic Committee and worked so hard to organize a great event.
